Understanding Gamification, Quests, and Battles for Nutrogen Users

An overview of the app's gamification system, designed to increase user engagement through points, quests, branch rankings, and peer-to-peer battles. Learn how users earn rewards and how branches can compete against each other.

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Accessing the Gamification Dashboard: From the main app dashboard, users can click the coin/points icon in the top right corner to open the "Quests" page. (Visual at 0:13 shows the icon to click)

  2. Earning Points: Users receive points for completing specific actions within the app. Small point rewards pop up for daily tasks like logging food, while larger rewards appear for completing milestones or challenges. (Visual at 0:23)

  3. Tracking Progress (Quests Page): On the Quests page, users can view their current level, percentage of completion toward the next level, and the difference between "Redeemable" and "Lifetime" points. (Visual at 0:36)

  4. Utilizing Gym Check-Ins: If enabled by the admin, users can earn a large number of points by checking into your business or branch physically via GPS or digitally via a QR code. (Visual at 1:04)

  5. Managing Tasks, Milestones, and Challenges: Users can toggle between three main tabs to see their progress:

    • Tasks: Daily or repeatable wellness and nutrition actions.

    • Milestones: Longer-term achievements (e.g., 7-day averages).

    • Challenges: Specific competitive events users can join. (Visuals at 1:44 - 1:53)

  6. Reviewing Points History: By scrolling down, users can see a "Points Breakdown" categorized by day, week, or month, allowing them to track exactly which sources (Tasks, Milestones, or Challenges) are driving their progress. (Visual at 2:05)

  7. Viewing Leaderboards and Branch Rankings: Users can access leaderboards (via the podium icon) to see how they rank against others in specific nutrition or activity pillars. If enabled, they can also view Branch Rankings to see how their specific branch is competing against other Nutrogen branches based on total team points. (Visuals at 2:23 and 2:44)

  8. Engaging in Battles: Users can challenge each other to peer-to-peer competitions. While admins can view active battles in the admin dashboard, they cannot create them on behalf of a user. (Visual at 3:03)

  9. Creating a New Battle: To start a competition, a user clicks "New Battle" and follows the five-step wizard:

    • Step 1: Format: Choose between "Highest Total" or "Last One Standing." (Visual at 3:54)

    • Step 2: Duration: Set the length (e.g., 1 week) and start date. (Visual at 4:10)

    • Step 3: Criteria: Select a metric such as Steps, Workout Minutes, or Water Intake. (Visual at 4:33)

    • Step 4: Wager: Select the number of points each participant must stake. (Visual at 4:48)

    • Step 5: Challengers: Select individual users to invite to the battle. (Visual at 4:55)

  10. Managing Active Battles: Within an active battle card, users can see a daily breakdown of competition. They also have the option to "Offer to call it off" (mutual cancellation) or "Withdraw & forfeit" (giving up the staked points). (Visual at 3:26)
